(M16) Eagle Nebula

 

DESCRIPTION: The Eagle Nebula (also known as the pillars of creation), was discovered in 1745 by Jean-Phillippe de Cheseaux. This nebula is 5700 light years away in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. This region is known for very intense star formations within the nebula spires and dark bubbles of dust and gas seen in the image. The spire in the upper left is 9.5 light years, or 5.9 tillion miles long.

EXPOSURE: 36x300sR, 36x300sG, 36x300sB, 9 hours total exposure.

NOTES: This image wasmy first attempt to post process in both Photoshop and PixInsight. Still have learning to do with PixInsight, but my next attempt on this object will be to image in narrow band.
