DESCRIPTION: Discovered in 1654 by Giovanni Battista Hodierna, and at distance of 3 million light years, m33 is the third largest galaxy in the local group behind the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies. This is also one of the most distant permentant objects in the sky that can be seen by the naked eye (in a totally dark site). Due to it velocity and proximity to the Andromeda galaxy, m33 is considered a satellite galaxy of Andromeda.
